# Tricoteuses — Law under git _French legal texts from [Légifrance](https://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/) under git_ → [Version française](README.md) ## Our production under git - [Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/declarations/declaration_du_26_aout_1789_des_droits_de_l_homme_et_du_citoyen) - [Constitution](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/constitution) - [Consolidated Legal Codes](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/codes/) _All these git repositories are generated daily from the open data [JORF (texts published in the Official Journal of the French Republic) and LEGI (consolidated codes, laws and regulations) from DILA](https://www.dila.premier-ministre.gouv.fr/services/repertoire-des-informations-publiques/les-donnees-juridiques)._ ### Our production in the form of datasets An adaptation of the legal texts available on git into datasets accessible on Hugging Face: - [Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789](https://huggingface.co/datasets/Tricoteuses/declaration_des_droits_de_l_homme_et_du_citoyen) - [Constitution of October 4, 1958](https://huggingface.co/datasets/Tricoteuses/constitution_du_4_octobre_1958) - [Consolidated Legal Codes](https://huggingface.co/datasets/Tricoteuses/codes_juridiques) ## Our project The [Légifrance](https://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/) website of the [DILA](https://dila.premier-ministre.gouv.fr/) has for several years provided convenient access to all French legal texts and has become a daily working tool for a large number of citizens, whether lawyers or not. Although it allows access to different versions of the texts, it is not optimal for use cases where the evolution of these texts over time is the main focus of study. The use of a version control tool, such as git, in this perspective has long been identified as a promising avenue, and several demonstrators emerged around 2014, both in [France](https://github.com/steeve/france.code-civil), [Germany](https://github.com/bundestag/gesetze), and other countries. Articles published at the time (on [NextINpact](https://next.ink/18680/93698-interview-steeve-morin-nous-explique-pourquoi-il-a-mis-code-civil-dans-github/) or [Numérama](https://www.numerama.com/politique/32646-le-code-civil-sous-github-pour-mieux-lire-ses-evolutions.html), for example) clearly present the potential advantages of such an approach. These projects have unfortunately been abandoned since then, which motivated the launch of this one, which is based not on scraping the Légifrance website, but on making legal texts available as open data, retrieved by the [tricoteuses-legifrance](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/logiciels/tricoteuses-legifrance) project. In a virtuous circle dynamic, anomalies in the data encountered during the development of this project are systematically reported to the DILA teams: the exchanges can be followed in the [repository tickets](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/issues?q=&labels=1&fuzzy=true). ## Our tools - Tricoteuses project architecture - [Tricoteuses-Légifrance Architecture](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/logiciels/tricoteuses-legifrance/src/branch/main/doc/architecture.md) - [Tricoteuses-Légifrance](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/logiciels/tricoteuses-legifrance), retrieves public data from the Légifrance website, validates it, puts it under git and in a database to generate consolidated texts ## Get to know us - [Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)](FAQ.md) - [Legal notices](mentions_legales.md) - [Tricoteuses project presentation slides](https://presentation.tricoteuses.fr) ([source code](https://git.tricoteuses.fr/tricoteuses/presentations/)) ## Contact us - [Public Matrix space](https://matrix.to/#/#tricoteuses:tricoteuses.fr) dedicated to the knitters, offering various discussion rooms. - [Physical or remote meetings](reunions.md) - Private email to [tricoteuses@tricoteuses.fr](mailto:tricoteuses@tricoteuses.fr).
